This was a fun take on alternate realities.

Monday, February 09, 2009

10. The Atlantis Prophecy by Thomas Greanias - sequel to Raising Atlantis. Not as riveting as the first, but still pretty fun. Rather reminded me of National Treasure in places.
11. The Resurrection Casket by Justin Richards - another Doctor Who audiobook set during the Rose years. Robots and space pirates!

Monday, February 02, 2009

8. Raising Atlantis by Thomas Greanias - fun little sci-fi jaunt to the Antarctic, tying in all the old cultures with the Atlantis legend.
9. Pest Control by Peter Anghelides - another Doctor Who audiobook read by David Tennant; set during Donna's term as companion.

Monday, January 26, 2009

6. Doomsday Book by Connie Willis - this story comes before the events in To Say Nothing of the Dog. The only character in common between the two is Mr Dunworthy. This one has a much more serious tone; no romp through time in this case, but still very good.
7. Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox by Eoin Colfer - the latest in the series. I'd had it on my 'to read' list for at least six months (it went on the list a little before it was released), but I only just got around to getting it from the library. It was fun to see Opal Koboi again (the villain we love to hate).

Monday, January 19, 2009

5. To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis - This was great fun. Time travel, incongruities, paradoxes, love stories, mysteries, seances... I laughed aloud more than once.

Monday, January 12, 2009

4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling - book 4
2. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J. K. Rowling - book 5.
3. Coraline by Neil Gaiman - I'd found this in our catalog months ago, but could never find it on the shelf. I finally decided to get it from the public library instead. Quite good... I think his newest, The Graveyard Book, which I listened to a few months ago, is meant to be in the same vein as this; sort of gothic horror for a younger audience.

Monday, December 29, 2008

107. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J. K. Rowling - found it on sale when I went to get my sil a gift card. I especially enjoyed Dumbledore's notes on each story.
104. The First Saint Omnibus by Leslie Charteris - a collection of Saint short stories. I was so excited back when the Saint movie first came out (though I wasn't too thrilled that Val Kilmer was playing him - I don't particularly like him), but then it turned out to be nothing like the stories. I was very disappointed. I think I'd read some of these before, in other collections.
105. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J. K. Rowling - reading the Tales of Beedle the Bard got me in the Harry Potter mood, so I decided to start re-reading the series.
106. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J. K. Rowling - book 2.

Monday, November 24, 2008

100. The Feast of the Drowned by Stephen Cole - a Doctor Who audiobook set during the Rose time period and read by David Tennant.
101. The Forever Trap by Dan Abnett - another Doctor Who story, this one read by Catherine Tate. Both really good readers; very enjoyable.
102. The Time Capsule by Peter Anghelides - a Sarah Jane audiobook read by Elisabeth Sladen. I'd listened to a couple of these back when I first heard about the series, but before it was shown in my area. It was more fun listening to this one already knowing who the characters were.
